Tiger Beer threw a zorb ball into the Urbanscapes mix to amp up the party at Resorts World Genting...

Here is what Urbanscapes festival goers took away from the recently concluded event: great music, fine tunes, amazing art and ex-hill-arating zorbing! That’s right. Sponsor Tiger Beer threw in a zorb ball to the mix to get the party rolling for urbanites as they uncage themselves from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Thrill seekers made a beeline for the Tiger Translate Zone to ride in the zorb ball, while techies stayed connected with friends on social networks at the designated Wi-Fi zone over a couple of cold brew. Fans were also seen grabbing a Translate Kit containing handy festival necessities like a picnic mat, straw hat, glow sticks, hand towel, and canvas bag.

A perfect day to zorb at Tiger Translate zone….

“We do our utmost best to cater to the needs of our fans from fun activities to tech needs so we’re glad to see that many took to the zorbing activity and Wi-Fi at the Tiger Translate Zone. Of course, having a couple of cold ones as fans enjoy the amazing line-up didn’t hurt either. We’re proud to be a part of Urbanscapes once again,” said Tiger Beer marketing manager Tai See Wai.

Urbanscapes, the month long music and arts festival that pays homage to all things a little less mainstream, returned this December 6 at the Horse Ranch in Resorts World Genting along with its partnership with Tiger Beer.

Gracing the musical stages were the Local Natives, an indie rock band all the way from Los Angeles, who had the crowd on their feet and dancing to their hits ‘Breakers’ and ‘Heavy Feet’. Fans of ‘90s college-rock had the opportunity of a lifetime to catch The Lemonheads, who made their first appearance in Malaysia.

Adding to this prodigious lineup was Grammy Award-winning songstress Kimbra, who soared to prominence with her collaboration with Gotye on the smash-hit song ‘Somebody That I Used to Know’, and Australian duo Jagwar Ma drove the crowd to fever pitch with their unique blend of guitar-infused psychedelic dance music. Rounding out the lineup were 11 of Malaysia’s and the regions’ best-loved local bands, including Paperplane Pursuit, OJ Law, and Jumero.

In the run-up to the main event, three satellite shows took place at KL Live to whet the appetites of music fans in anticipation of the festival itself. The first show kicked off on November 19 with Scottish synthpop band Chvrches, followed by their Caledonian counterparts, post-rockers Mogwai on November 30. The Urbanscapes 2014 satellite show schedule concluded on a high note on December 1, when the American comedy rock duo Tenacious D took to the stage with their inimitable high-energy show.
